Helen Wood

Helen is a solicitor who specialises in commercial property transactions and believes in communication with clients at all times, excellent client care and handling each transaction with the efficiency that clients expect. Helen supports the commercial property team in providing the standard of service that has seen the firm act for a number of high net worth clients on an ongoing/repeat basis. Helen is on hand to respond to queries clients may have in a manner that enables them to respond to the demands of their own businesses. Helen offers experience in dealing with a wide variety of commercial transactions including secured loans from tertiary lenders that can work alongside other transactions to meet those needs.

Helen is a solicitor who qualified in January 2006. She attended the University of Southampton, gaining a 2:1 LLB (Hons) degree in 2001. Helen undertook the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Bournemouth University.

Helen has over 11 years’ experience as a solicitor, initially in family law and litigation and then in commercial property matters. Helen has been part of the commercial property team at Engleharts since joining the firm in October 2014.

David was born, bred and educated in Hove and spent the first half of his career working in London, eventually becoming a partner and head of department in a West End firm.

David has dealt with most aspects of commercial and residential conveyancing, with particular experience in secured lending work and leasehold enfranchisement.

In 1990, David decided to work nearer his home in Hove and opened his own practice which he ran successfully for over 10 years, after which he decided to become a consultant with a larger practice. David has close contacts with local estate agents and property investment companies.

David enjoys most sports, particularly golf, football and cricket, and has been a Brighton & Hove Albion supporter for over 50 years.

Michael qualified as a solicitor with a Brighton firm over 30 years ago and spent most of his years in a City practice specialising in commercial property work for investors. He joined the firm in October 2011 and, as well as property, Michael deals with business sales and general commercial matters. Michael is delighted to have given up the commute so he can add this experience to a strong local firm.

Tony initially qualified as a lawyer in South Africa. After a few years of practice in that country he relocated to England. Tony was admitted as a Solicitor in 1986 after training in a large City firm. After a period as a partner in a noted London West End practice, he set up his own legal practice in 1993.

Tony joined Engleharts in 2014 to work primarily as a Consultant in its highly regarded commercial property department which he continues to do.

Tony also has over 40 years’ experience in Private Client work having been involved with Private Client work in the form of Wills, Trust, Probate and Powers of Attorney throughout his career. He is a member of the Private Client Section of the Law Society and it is this experience which he utilises in his role as the Head of the Private Clients Department.

Tony aims to offer a personal, professional and cost-effective service. His clients have ranged from a PLC through to small businesses and professional partnerships, as well as families, individuals and their companies. This client mix allowed him to gain substantial experience, in addition to his commercial property expertise in a wide range of property transactions, commercial and employment law as well as practical expertise in Private Client work.

Tony’s interests include reading and spending time with his family.

We managed to sell our flat and buy a new house with the help of Catherine. Being in the stamp duty holiday storm and being in the middle of a chain and selling our flat through the council would have make it more difficult if not for Catherine’s proactivity, professionalism and patience. I feel like it’s been a long time since I’ve seen another profession exceed my expectation, but I’ve been blown away. I really recommend them, as I know I’ll be coming back for my next move.
